Choosing the Right Sink to Suit Your Kitchen

Are you in the process of planning a new kitchen, or kitchen improvement? You probably didn’t realise that something as simple as a sink could be such a big decision. They’re not the cheapest things, but will last for many years, so make sure you choose correctly!

Sinks are a fundamental part of the kitchen, and the kitchen is the heart of the home – so it’s worth taking time to explore your options. They can come in many different materials, shapes and sizes; concrete sinks, ceramic sinks, and stainless steel.

We’re going to outline some of the most popular choices of kitchen sinks to help you decide.

  • Ceramic Sinks

These sinks are a great choice. They’re versatile with interior choices, easy to clean, and built to last. They are more of a traditional design, however can look great in a modern kitchen if styled appropriately.

Using a black ceramic sink against black counters can look sleek and modern, but they work just as well creating a contrast. White ceramic sinks can provide extra brightness to a kitchen as they reflect the light round the room.

On top of their great aesthetic, ceramic sinks have kitchen-suitable properties. They are heat resistant, and easy to look after.

  • Stainless Steel Sinks

Stainless steel sinks can fit themselves into pretty much any kitchen. One key thing about them is their durability – they are made out of steel!

These are probably the most popular style of sink due to their lower cost, and the design and material is east to maintain and highly durable.

The stainless steel sink can integrate into all styles of kitchens, traditional, modern, industrial, or vintage. Their colour is neutral, and they look especially good in kitchens that include black and silver decor.

These are usually an option for people who know they’ll be making good use of their kitchen – it’s hard-wearing and ready for continuous use.

  • Concrete Sinks

Concrete is a great material to use to add a rustic or industrial look to a kitchen. They especially suit contemporary kitchens, which could have a matching concrete worktops or kitchen island.

Concrete sinks have a raw look, and definitely make a statement to jazz up a boring kitchen. They use an everyday material and turn it into a luxury bespoke piece. These can be made to order, so you get to determine the size, shape, colour, and texture.

A concrete sink will have natural variations in colour, and show wear over time. However, as they wear they develop an attractive look called a patina.
